Who we are

Sotenbori is a software development studio led by Ali Bassam, based in Germany and working with clients around the world. This policy describes how we handle personal data shared by visitors to this website and by clients during the course of an engagement.

What we collect

Contact information. When you email us or book a call, we collect the contact details and any information you choose to share: name, email address, company, and the content of your message.

Engagement materials. If you become a client, we may handle documents, code, credentials, and other materials you share with us in order to deliver the agreed work. The handling of those materials is governed by the engagement agreement signed with you, not by this policy.

Site analytics. This site does not currently set tracking cookies or run third-party analytics. A cookie consent banner is shown for any future changes; until then, only strictly necessary cookies are used.

How we use your data

• To respond to your enquiry and discuss potential work
• To deliver agreed services to clients
• To issue invoices and meet our legal accounting obligations
• To maintain ordinary business correspondence

Service providers

We use a small number of third parties to operate the business:

• Vercel: hosts this website.
• Calendly: used when you book a call. Subject to Calendly's own privacy policy.
• Standard email and accounting providers used to maintain business correspondence and meet legal obligations.

We do not sell personal data and do not share it with third parties for advertising.

Your rights under GDPR

You have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of the personal data we hold about you, to object to or restrict processing, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. To exercise these rights, email sales@sotenbori.com.

Data retention

We retain enquiry correspondence for as long as it is useful to the relationship, and engagement records for as long as required by tax and accounting law in Germany. You can request deletion at any time, subject to those legal retention requirements.

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent update.
